2011 Christmas Letter

Dear Friends,

For the past 17 years the Arkansas Valley Pregnancy Center has existed to provide free, confidential services to families facing an unplanned pregnancy.  You…God’s people…have made it possible to provide these services and to minister on His behalf!

I was shocked and I must say, a little appalled when I went to training in October and was shown a YouTube video that spoke about the lies and deceptions of pregnancy centers. I knew there was opposition out there, but I really had no idea the truth of it.

Well I came home with a new found passion, on a mission to know those that oppose the ministry of the Arkansas Valley Pregnancy Center and to prepare the hearts and minds of each of us to stand firm against them.
It’s been a couple of months and I have learned so much…but the biggest thing I have learned is with all the knowledge the world has to offer, we are nothing without prayer! Your prayer support is the reason that we are able to Stand Firm in the ministry of the Arkansas Valley Pregnancy Center.

I’ve also discovered that the battle for life has been fought for centuries. Jesus, Himself was plotted against. Many male babies were put to death in the search to destroy Jesus. The Creator of the world understands the desperation of a woman in an unplanned pregnancy. His mother faced that very thing. No, I don’t believe

Mary considered abortion, but she most certainly faced the scorn and gossip of her community.  

When a young client enters the center, often times hopeless, I know that she is there because of a divine appointment by the Master. What a tremendous responsibility we have to minister His words and actions to her. A responsibility to be there, doors open, hearts ready to receive her in love, without judgment or preconceived ideas of where we want to take her. A responsibility to allow God to be the orchestrator of this divine encounter.

Without your partnership in support, both financially and prayerfully, we cannot fulfill these responsibilities. Thank you for ministering to God’s creation through your support of the Arkansas Valley Pregnancy Center!
The outcome we desire…life…doesn’t always happen. Yes, there are times when a client cannot see past her desperation and will make the choice to abort. Our hope is that we have mirrored Christ in our ministry to her, and that she will know that we are available to her when her heart recognizes that her choice was only a band-aide to a much deeper wound. In that place is where God’s true healing begins.

Ours is a great calling, to be sure. In today’s political and social climate, defending the lives of children with love and conviction is—quite honestly—difficult. But we’re in this together. We do not consider it a burden as we proclaim Life to our clients, but a great privilege. God’s desire for each of our clients is Life…life for the unborn child and a life free of guilt and regret for those who face an unplanned pregnancy. We work to speak the truth in love to our clients and to walk with them through the hard choices they are faced with.

So despite the challenges our plan is to continue moving forward as a ministry. We’re reminded that we always advance with wisdom; yet when it comes to matters of life, there is no room for retreat.

As many of you know, God has blessed us with a much larger facility to accommodate the growing number of clients and the need for ultrasound services. With that comes a greater financial responsibility! The need is to build our monthly donor supporters. We prepare for the coming year with anticipation, knowing that God has a plan for this ministry to continue touching lives with the hope of Christ; to continue changing hearts and to continue saving lives in the process.
