What is the Walk for Life?

The Walk for Life is a simple way for people of all ages to get involved by actively demonstrating support for the value of human life – and a desire to make a difference in the lives of women, men, and children in our communities. By raising funds and walking or sponsoring another walker for the Walk for Life, you are directly helping the ministry of the Arkansas Valley Pregnancy Center and its ability to minister to our communities of the value of life through the love of Christ.

How does the Walk for Life help our community?

The funds raised from the Walk for Life will help continue life-affirming programs that make a difference in the lives of each individual we serve within our communities by providing FREE services, that include:

  • Pregnancy tests & options counseling
  • Ultrasounds
  • Prenatal vitamins
  • Breast pump borrow program
  • STD testing & education on sexual integrity and risk-avoidance
  • Baby, children & maternity clothing
  • Parenting education & classes
  • Emergency baby supplies such as formula, baby food, diapers and wipes
  • Post-abortion recovery class

There is no cost/fee to participate in the Walk for Life. However, we encourage people to participate by raising funds or sponsoring themselves.

How much does it cost to participate in the 5K?

Participation Fee is $25 for Early Registration due by May 13th and $30 for Registration after May 13th.

How do I fundraise – both in person and online?

The best way to get sponsors is to simply ask everyone you know… family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and even people you know out of town. When you ask, “Will you sponsor me as I Walk For Life?” most people will say “yes.” You can share what you are fundraising for in texts, emails, and on social media. Use social media to your advantage! Share our posts and pictures on Facebook and post your own photos and tag us to spread the word with the hashtag #avpcwalk2021

Your sponsors can come to this event page to securely donate and sponsor you for any amount that they would like to.

We also have the paper pledge form available at the AVPC office. Just call us in advance and let us know that you’ll be stopping by.

How do I turn in my fundraising?

Turn in your pledge sheets on the evening of the Walk for Life. We will have tables set up outside at the Arkansas Valley Pregnancy Center to receive your pledge sheets, funds and to register you for the 5K Run and/or the Walk for Life. Our registration for the 5K Run begins at 5:00 PM and the Walk for Life Registration begins at 5:30 PM at 118 W. 4th Street in La Junta.

Remember to bring your pledge sheet and all cash and checks you have collected with you.

If you are not able to run/walk with us on Thursday, May 20th, you are welcome to call us during business hours to bring your pledge sheet and all cash and checks you’ve collected and meet with us to turn in your fundraising efforts. If you have any questions at all, please reach out to us at 719-384-5561.

I can't Walk or Run that day. Can I still participate?

Yes! You can still raise funds and walk in your own neighborhood or community at any time. You can mail or drop off any pledge forms/payments at the address listed above.

Note: All pledges are tax-deductible. All pledges are a one-time pledge, not a per-mile pledge. Any pledges selected as "Bill Me" will be billed through the mail one month after the Walk takes place.
