Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Walk for Life?

The Walk for Life is a simple way for people of all ages to get involved by actively demonstrating support for the value of human life – and a desire to make a difference in the lives of women, men, and children in our communities. By raising funds and walking or sponsoring another walker for the Walk for Life, you are directly helping the ministry of the Arkansas Valley Pregnancy Center and its ability to minister to our communities of the value of life through the love of Christ.

How does the Walk for Life help our community?

The funds raised from the Walk for Life will help continue life-affirming programs that make a difference in the lives of each individual we serve within our communities by providing FREE services, that include:

  • Pregnancy tests & options counseling
  • Ultrasounds
  • Prenatal vitamins
  • Breast pump borrow program
  • STD testing & education on sexual integrity and risk-avoidance
  • Baby, children & maternity clothing
  • Parenting education & classes
  • Emergency baby supplies such as formula, baby food, diapers and wipes
  • Post-abortion recovery class

What does it mean that this year's Walk for Life is virtual?

While we wish we could be walking together with all of you as in other years, given current public health guidance, we will be celebrating the value of human life as we walk ONE MILE in our own towns, communities and neighborhoods. We encourage you to make plans to walk with your family, friends, or a small group (while practicing social distancing) and share your experiences with us by tagging AVPC @ #avpcwalk2020 on your social media.

How much does it cost to participate in the Walk?

There is no cost/fee to participate in the Walk for Life. However, we encourage people to participate by raising funds or sponsoring themselves.

How do I fundraise online?

The best way to get sponsors is to simply ask everyone you know… family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and even people you know out of town. When you ask “Will you sponsor me as I Walk For Life?” most people will say “yes.” You can share what you are fundraising for in texts, emails, and on social media. Use social media to your advantage! Share our posts and pictures on Facebook and post your own photos and tag us to spread the word with the hashtag #avpcwalk2020!

Your sponsors can come to this event page to securely donate and sponsor you for any amount that they would like to.

We also have the paper pledge form available at the AVPC office. Just call us in advance and let us know that you’ll be stopping by.

How do I turn in my fundraising?

To protect your health and maintain proper social distancing, our drop-off location for pledge sheets and funds will be outside in our parking lot, weather permitting. We encourage you to come through our FUN drive-thru drop-off parking lot on Saturday, October 10th from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at AVPC at 118 W. 4th Street in La Junta.

Remember to bring your pledge sheet and all cash and checks you’ve collected with you. We will also have your prizes available to pick up!  If you are not able to come on Saturday, October 10th, all pledge sheets, checks and other materials may be mailed to Arkansas Valley Pregnancy Center at P.O. Box 249, La Junta, CO 81050 or call us during business hours to schedule a curb-side drop-off. If you have any questions at all, please reach out to us at 719-384-5561.

I can't Walk or Run that day. Can I still participate?

Yes! You can still raise funds and walk in your own neighborhood or community at any time. You can mail or drop off any pledge forms/payments at the address listed above.

Note: All pledges are tax-deductible.  All pledges are a one-time pledge, not a per-mile pledge.  Any pledges selected as "Bill Me" will be billed through the mail one month after the Walk takes place.
